DISTRESSING EXPERIENCES AND TRAUMA PROCESSING

Most people have experienced something in their life which has had an emotional impact on their lives and sometimes altered their behaviours. Recent research suggests that these experiences are actually physically ‘stored’ in our central nervous systems – meaning that distressing experiences may be physically imprinted in our bodies and even our DNA.

Sometimes, thinking or talking about our distressing or traumatic experience, makes our body feel like its happening again. This happens when our distressing or traumatic experience is being triggered. This is why simply talking about these experiences is sometimes not sufficient enough to reduce our distress or emotional impact of the memory.

One specific service I offer is working with clients to reduce the impact of these experiences. It is called EFT and does NOT rely on only discussing the traumatic experience. This style of intervention takes place over a minimum of 3-4 sessions although the outcome is IMMEDIATE. As soon as the treatment begins, you will know if it has worked. While the treatment does not work on every client, the majority of clients have found immediate relief.
